DePuy Synthes Elbow Replacement Recall
Johnson & Johnson subsidiary DePuy Synthes issued a recall of its Radial Head Prosthesis System, an elbow joint replacement device, after a number of device failures were reported to the FDA. Patients may experience serious injury including bone loss, bone fracture, soft tissue damage and pain as a result of the failure of this elbow replacement device. DePuy highlighted the issue of the loosening of the radial stem and additional factors contributed to the decision to recall the Radial Head Prosthesis System devices.
Revision surgery may be required to treat patients with serious injuries related to the failure of these elbow replacement devices.
