Pediatrician Jonathon Cavins Found Guilty of Multiple Counts of Sexual Abuse
**UPDATE June 5, 2020**
Pediatrician Jonathon Cavins was sentenced to 23 years with 19 years served in prison and the remaining 4 years to be served on probation. The sentence was handed down by Boone Circuit Judge Lori Shein after Cavins was found guilty on two counts of child molestation, one count of sexual misconduct with a minor, and two counts of child seduction for molesting pediatric patients in his care.

Criminal trial proceedings against Dr. Jonathon Cavins concluded February 13, 2020 with a guilty verdict. The Lebanon pediatrician was accused of child molestation, sexual misconduct with a minor, and child seduction after five of his male patients came forward to report inappropriate behavior. The jury heard testimony from four of the boys that Cavins applied condoms on them and stroked their penises. While Cavins denied the claims, the jury ultimately sided with the boys. Cavins also stated in his testimony that it was his preference not to wear gloves during examinations.

Dr. Cavins was arrested on February 22, 2019 on charges of sexual misconduct with a minor after a 12 year-old male patient reported an incident to police. The victim stated Dr. Cavins touched him inappropriately during a physical examination at a Witham Health Services Pediatric suite in Boone County, Indiana. The incident occurred on February 4, 2019. Two additional male victims have since come forward with similar claims. Those victims were 15 and 14 years old at the time of the incidents.
Witham issued a statement announcing the termination of Dr. Jonathon Cavins shortly after news of his arrest was made public.
