Cohen & Malad, LLP Files Class Action Lawsuit Against Nicor for Slipping Charges Onto Vectren Bills
Cohen & Malad, LLP filed a class action lawsuit against Nicor Energy Services Company for slipping charges onto Hoosier customers’ utility bills for unnecessary and worthless repair plans. The class action lawsuit alleges that Nicor’s relationship with Indiana public utility company Vectren allows it to use Vectren’s logo, color scheme, and billing statements to charge Vectren customers for bogus repair plans on their utility bills. Those charges are described as “Non-Vectren Energy Delivery Charges” on utility bills. The class action seeks to recover damages, including statutory damages, for these utility customers.
“Utilities provide essential services and Hoosiers shouldn’t have to scour utility bills to see whether a private third party company has slipped charges onto their utility bills,” said Lynn Toops, a lawyer at Cohen & Malad.
