Cohen & Malad, LLP Files Class Action Against Expedia Worldwide, Inc. and Other Online Travel Services
Cohen & Malad, LLP has filed a proposed antitrust class action on behalf of persons and business who have purchased hotel room reservations through many of the most popular online booking services. In Gold Seal Termite & Pest Control Company v. Expedia Worldwide, Inc. et al., the plaintiff alleges that several of the largest online travel services – including Expedia, Hotels.com, Travelocity.com, Booking.com, Priceline.com, and Orbitz Worldwide – conspired with major hotel chains to restrict competition and fix the retail price of room reservations in violation of United States antitrust law. The hotel chains named in the complaint include Hilton Worldwide, Starwood Hotels & Resports Worldwide, Marriott International, Trump International Hotels, Klimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group, and Intercontinental Hotels Group. The complaint seeks triple damages under the Sherman Act and injunctive relief preventing the challenged pricing practices in the future.
