TaKeena Thompson Sworn In as 2013 Marion County Bar Association President
Cohen Malad, LLP congratulates TaKeena Thompson as she begins her second term as president of the Marion County Bar Association. TaKeena was sworn in as the 2013 MCBA President on Friday January 25, 2013, by the Honorable Tanya Walton Pratt, United States District Judge for the Southern District of Indiana. She along with her executive officers and board of directors will be continuing the organization’s mission of celebrating fairness, justice, and equality throughout the Indianapolis legal community via various events and initiatives.
The Marion County Bar Association was founded in 1925 as the Marion County Lawyers’ Club to fill a void and serve as the professional organization for Black lawyers in the Indianapolis legal community. Over the years, the organization changed its name to the Marion County Bar Association and expanded its reach to include people of all ethnic, racial, and religious minorities. Several decades later, the organization continues to celebrate and raise awareness for diversity issues within the Indianapolis legal community.
TaKeena will be leading the MCBA in its efforts to increase membership and offer valuable networking and educational opportunities for attorneys in the Indianapolis legal community. In her remarks, Ms. Thompson spoke of a signature continuing legal education event for MCBA members that will provide engaging, relevant information while also allowing attendees the opportunity to earn the credits necessary to complete on-going education requirements.
