Do You Use a DreamStation, Trilogy or Other Philips Brand CPAP Machine For Sleep Apnea?
Over 20 models of Philips Respironics CPAP, BiPAP, and ventilator devices have been recalled by the FDA after numerous patients reported illnesses stemming from a defect in a foam component in the machine. The foam has been found to disintegrate and emit dangerous particles and gasses through the device directly into the airways of people who rely on these machines to breathe. More disturbing is that many VA hospitals and medical centers have prescribed Philips CPAP, BiPAP, and ventilator machines to countless veterans to treat sleep apnea and other breathing disorders.
Most recently, a ProPublica investigation reports that a different foam used in the Philips DreamStation 2 and millions of other replacement machines was found to emit potentially dangerous chemicals as well, including formaldehyde.
