Dentist Steven Hollar Pleads Guilty, Sentenced
Dentist Dr. Steven Hollar has pled guilty to the confinement and assault of a former female staff member. The 57-year-old, who owns the Hollar Dental Group in Warsaw, Indiana, was recently sentenced to probation after being accused of inappropriate conduct with a female employee. Hollar faced charges of confinement and battery, with two additional charges dismissed as part of a plea agreement. The case, originally handled in Kosciusko County, was transferred to Elkhart County after local judges recused themselves.
Hollar was sentenced to 360 days in jail for confinement, but the sentence was entirely suspended on probation. He also received a six-month sentence for battery, which was similarly suspended on probation. A no-contact order remains in place between Hollar and the victim for the duration of his probation.
The allegations against Hollar stemmed from incidents reported by a female employee at Hollar Dental Group. On March 20, 2023, during a one-on-one annual staff review, Hollar allegedly asked the employee invasive questions, had her try on scrubs in front of him, and made inappropriate comments about her attire. The employee reported that Hollar hugged her and suggested keeping the interaction private. Later that day, Hollar called the employee, allegedly making further inappropriate remarks and offering flexible working hours.
The following day, Hollar reportedly demonstrated a procedure to the employee in a dental chair, during which he allegedly touched her inappropriately and joked about it. On April 4, 2023, the employee reported another incident where Hollar called her for a meeting, locked the door, and instructed her to try on various scrubs in front of him. During this encounter, Hollar allegedly unhooked her bra, touched her inappropriately, and attempted to move her clothing to view a scar, making light of the situation.
The victim’s accounts were detailed in the charging documents, filed in April 2024. View Steven Hollar’s sentencing order here.
