Chief Cardiologist Ed Harlamert Terminated by Witham Memorial Hospital

CohenMalad, LLP medical malpractice attorneys have received confirmation from Witham Memorial Health Hospital that it has terminated the employment contact of Dr. Edward Harlamert, Chief of Cardiology.

While Witham has not made a public statement about the specific reasons for Dr. Harlamert's termination, this development follows repeated concern over his highly irregular clinical practices, a series of ongoing malpractice claims filed by former patients, and a previous contract termination by IU Health in Indianapolis.

Unnecessary, Excessive Cardiac Procedures

Our firm represents multiple individuals who were serioulsy harmed by the actions of Dr. Edward Harlamert. In these medical malpractice complaints and lawsuits, some decided and some still pending, the theme is disturbingly common.

Our clients allege that Dr. Harlamert subjected them to a series of unnecessary and excessive cardiac procedures, including angiograms and stent placements.

One former patient underwent 44 cardiac catheterizations and received more than 40 stents, all in less than 10 years. And most recently, in the matter of Carlota Lawton v. Edward Harlamert, M.D. and Witham Hospital, experts sided with the former patient.

The Indiana Department of Insurance medical review panel determined that that Dr. Harlamert committed malpractice on Ms. Lawton, by improperly performing an unjustified cardiac catheterization and by placing an unnecessary coronary stent.
