Roundup Injury Lawsuits
Roundup is a glyphosate-based broad spectrum weed killer which was originally produced by Monsanto and was acquired by Bayer in 2018. Roundup is used to control weeds on farms growing crops including corn, soy, and cotton all across the United States and the world. It is also used on lawns and in a variety of landscaping.
In 2015, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) issued a statement regarding glyphosate. This statement was based on evaluations of various studies and found glyphosate as “probably carcinogenic to humans”. The IARC also concluded there was “strong” evidence that both “pure” glyphosate and glyphosate formulations could cause genetic mutations in cells. Further, the IARC examined a possible link between exposure to Roundup and non-Hodgkin lymphoma and leukemia.

Laborers including landscapers, golf course maintenance personnel, and agricultural workers who worked in areas where Roundup was widely used have likely been exposed to high levels of glyphosate. Lawsuits have been filed against Monsanto and Bayer claiming that repeated exposure to glyphosate-based Roundup placed these workers at a higher risk for developing cancers including non-Hodgkin lymphoma and leukemia.

On May 13, 2019 a California jury awarded a couple who had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma $2 billion in a lawsuit against Bayer. The jury found that Bayer failed to warn consumers of an increased cancer risk associated with exposure to the glyphosate-based herbicide Roundup.
Earlier in 2019, another California jury awarded more than $80 million in damages to a man who contracted non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma after using Roundup glyphosate products for years around his property to kill weeds, poison oak, and other overgrowth.
The first trial against Monsanto and Bayer in 2018 ended in a $289 million verdict to a man who contracted non-Hodgkin lymphoma after regular exposure to Roundup in his job as a groundskeeper.
