
Bishop Luers case filed in Allen County, grows to include seven families
March 7, 2025 | This morning attorneys for the Plaintiffs moved to dismiss the original lawsuit, which was filed in Marion County, and will file an updated complaint in Allen County by end-of-day today.
The new complaint includes two notable changes.
- Plaintiffs have increased to seven high school victims.
- The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis has been removed from the lawsuit.
The lawsuit continues to allege widespread instances of child exploitation and pornography affecting more than three dozen high school victims in total.
Defendants are the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend and Bishop Luers High School, as well as David Maugel, Superintendent of Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocesan Schools, and three Bishop Luers’ staff members: Kevin Mann, Dean of Students and Athletic Director; Scott Kreiger, former Principal; and James Huth, former Principal and current Director of Development.
Counts include gross negligence, civil liability (failure to report), fraudulent concealment and breach of Fiduciary Duty, among other allegations.
