Front Subframe Defects Potentially Cause Excessive Rust, Corrosion
Product defect attorneys at CohenMalad, LLP, are investigating a possible product defect affecting 2015-2023 Ford Transit vans. These vehicles have been reported to develop a significant amount of rust and corrosion, both in typical and atypical locations.
Common areas known to be susceptible to rust include the undercarriage, wheel arches, door frames and internal roof ribs. However, Transit owners have also reported rust in more unusual places, and occurring very early on in their vehicle’s lifespan.
Complaints include abnormal rust or abnormal amounts of rust:
- on interior components, such as between upper bars and beneath the van
- along the lower track for sliding doors
- on brackets connecting the sliding door to the lower door track
- in new models, sometime less than a year old
To date, Ford has refused to cover any portion of costly repair costs necessary for the vehicles’ drivability and safety, or to proactively address these issues despite repeated complaints by owners/lessees.
Our product defect legal team is now actively reviewing the front subframes on Ford Transits manufactured between 2015-2023, evaluating whether potential production flaws or inadequacies are the root cause.
If you own a 2015-2023 Ford Transit and have paid for costly repairs related to rust or corrosion on the front subframe, or suspect a serious issue but have not yet fixed it, please contact our attorneys now for a free and confidential evaluation of your potential claim.
