Tort Claims Notice Filed in Alleged Sexual Misconduct Matter at North Madison Elementary

On behalf of our minor clients and their parents, North Madison Elementary School and Mooresville Consolidated School System have received tort claims notices alleging negligence. All three claims are in regards to purported sexual misconduct by art teacher, James Buchler.

CohenMalad, LLP began investigating these allegations several months ago after being contacted by parents of children attending North Madison Elementary School in Camby, Indiana.

Parents have claimed multiple children were subjected to inappropriate touching by Buchler, with numerous complaints made to school staff and leadership. Despite these students bravely coming forward, there was reportedly a failure by the school's administration to protect students from further harm, and to contact law enforcement about these incidents as required by law.

Our attorneys continue to review claims related to both Buchler and the school administration's actions.

If your child is a past or current student of James Buchler and you have abuse concerns or related information, we encourage you to speak with us at 317-576-2783, or request a confidential consultation online. Our attorneys are available to listen to your concerns, and discuss Indiana's child victim and parents' rights, as well as whistleblower rights.

Regardless of whether you may wish to pursue a civil matter, our school abuse legal team is committed to helping those affected make informed decisions, and will answer questions you may have. There is no cost or obligation.

James Buchler has been teaching in Indiana since receiving his license in 2009. Prior to working at North Madison, he taught at East Allen County School Corporation in northeast Indiana.
