Uber Faces Class Action Lawsuit For Misclassifying Drivers as Independent Contractors
Cohen & Malad, LLP filed a class action lawsuit June 9, 2016 against Uber Technologies, Inc. on behalf of Uber drivers in Indiana. The lawsuit alleges that Uber failed to pay appropriate wages to drivers by misclassifying drivers as independent contractors when, in fact, Uber controls the drivers like employees. Employees, unlike independent contractors, are entitled to a variety of benefits and protections, including minimum wage, expense reimbursement, and overtime, which Uber did not pay.
“If Uber wants to control its drivers as though they’re employees, then it has to pay them like employees. It’s that simple,” said Vess Miller of Cohen & Malad, LLP. For more information about this lawsuit call our office at 317-636-6481.
