Bishop Dwenger High School Chaplin Father David Huneck Resigns Amid Accusation of Sexual Misconduct

The associated press reported today that Father David Huneck has agreed to plead guilty to child solicitation and sexual battery charges for allegedly sexually abusing two females ages 17 and 19. Huneck is scheduled to appear in court on January 27, 2022.

The Whitley County prosecutor announced multiple charges were filed against Father David Huneck on Friday, October 8, 2021. The charges include child seduction, sexual battery, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, furnishing alcohol to a minor, and two counts of battery.

The Fort Wayne-South Bend Catholic Diocese recently revealed allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor were made against Father David Huneck. The priest has since resigned as chaplain of Bishop Dwenger High School in Fort Wayne and pastor of Saint Paul of the Cross Catholic Church in Columbia City. Additionally, Father Huneck has been suspended from all public priestly ministry pending the outcome of an investigation by the Whitley County prosecutor according to media reports.
